[FILM] Chicago (2002)
Chicago, as a musical, dates back to the 1970s, with songs that remind me of classic Hollywood. It's quite impressive how the film manages to take such an old-school formula and makes it feel completely fresh through impressive staging and dance numbers that sometimes feel like dream sequences. It's a little surprising to me that the film won Best Pictures at the Oscars that year, given how the Academy doesn't typically favour musicals in recent years, but it's a respectable choice.
