[FILM] Megalopolis (2024)
I really made an attempt to take this film as seriously as possible going in, despite all the negative reviews I read beforehand. Unfortunately, I still found the film to be borderline unwatchable. I was expecting a grand mess, something like mother! which I quite enjoyed - unfortunately, what I found was something significantly less interesting and most of the time quite boring. This is a film that thinks it's smarter than it actually is, with extremely basic takes dressed up as grand philosophical statements. The only joy I got out of it was a scene where Adam Driver's character tells someone to "go back to the club" in an incredibly bizarre intonation which for me is going to be the film's lasting legacy.
